The Detective Bureau is a multi-faceted investigative unit, which primarily follows up on complaints initially taken by uniformed deputies. Detectives conduct investigations using a myriad of methods, and they must be extremely detail oriented. Once a Detective is assigned to a case, it is their job to see it through to the end. This is accomplished by one or more of the following methods: Interviewing in detail the victim(s), witnesses, and potential suspect(s), collecting and preserving evidence, processing crime scenes, conducting surveillance, and obtaining search warrants.

Detectives must work closely with the Prosecuting Attorneys office to assure their investigation has no "loop holes." Detectives also enjoy a very good relationship with other law enforcement agencies in the County, State and Federal agencies such as the FBI, DEA and ATF as well as public and private organizations devoted to the safety and well being of the citizens of Madison County.
